How does the smoothing function work? As far as I can tell, it's taking the starting value and the ending value and then just linearly interpolating between them without any respect for the shape of the curve. Is it supposed to be doing this, or am I missing something?

Yes, it's just linear interpolation.

That's odd. Are you copying the maps from RomRaider?

Will it work with ST or ATR yet?

I have found that if your Base Timing and Advance Timing tables are not exactly the same (for some reason mine are different sizes, maybe LC uses some of that space) this tool will not work.

That's a known issue, it might be the case for all 16-bit cars. One day I'll get off my ass and teach the software to deal with that.

I just realized that I made this utility with a couple of assumptions in mind, that may not be true for everybody, and may not be clear enough in what I wrote earlier. I assume that the dynamic advance table is smooth, and is appropriate for the engine. On top of that, I assume that corrections to total timing are being made in response to knock, and since the advance table is already good, corrections should be made to the base map only. So, when you make corrections to the 'combined' tables, the correction actually happens in the base table, and the advance table is unchanged. In order to help the first assumption be true, you can tweak the advance table with this tool, and the base timing will be tweaked inversely, so the total timing remains the same. That should make it easy to get the advance table nice and smooth. If you play with it enough you'll see how it works, but I figured I should explain why it works the way it does.

Also, I started looking into support for cars with different-sized base and advance tables... For that to work I want to assume that the advance table just needs to have a couple columns of zeroes added to the left edge (the lowest loads). Is that correct?

Feature request. If possible it would be nice to have an X on the highlighted lines, both top and side graphs that corresponds to the row and column intersection point. I think it would make it a little easier to see where on the curve you are looking. Thanks for the nice software. Dale

I have attached a new update. This should support different-sized tables, for those of you with 16-bit ECUs. The only catch is that you must paste a 'base timing' table before pasting an advance timing table. I can probably address that in the next update, but it didn't occur to me until just now. I've also implemented something like DSchultz's suggestion. I am not updating the 1st post yet, first I'd like some confirmation that the 16-bit support works reasonably well. (attachment removed - see my next post)

Hi: I don't see what you added related to the feature I requested. The title bar indicates the app is still v9. Am I missing something?
