If you were to remove the switch/button, would you have a constant CEL?

No CEL even without the switch.

Nevermind, there was some mis-communication somewhere... What CELs do the USDM guys have running this ROM? I need to know to fix things...

I use ecuedit to read the code and it always returns no code for the 03 / 04 JDMs.

I was working with a 03 JDM STi today and after uploading the Grp N rom forgot to disconnect the test mode (green connectors) prior to starting the engine.... anyways engine started ok and the CEL light went off..... it has otherwise been staying on with the programming block and test mode connectors disconnected....

Ok guys....

After a very very very very very long night - I think we have all the CEL's disabled. Almost a fried ecu later anyway :)

I'm going to be doing some testing in the morning. All fixes will be via check box (not typical disable values either :))

Some other things to note. Andy found Misfire thresholds for 16bit roms.

I THINK we MIGHT <------ Very important have found the knock sensor sensitivity table (even though about 4 posts back I said it didn't exist)

I did a bit of testing tonight, but due to the conditions I tested I cannot confirm anything.

I think Andy is going to be releasing more "official" defs after I get all the testing done to verify everything is in good working condition.

Something to note - IF you are running this rom and you have ANY check engine light, there is a GOOD chance that FLKC and IAM WILL NOT work - SPECIFICALLY with OCV code. FBKC is enabled and working but knock control will never leave FBKC mode.

With the fixes for the CEL's it should be back to normal. I did sucessfully have NO codes tonight, but still had a light - however at the time the fix was crude, but the new fix is proper.

Thanks for the hard work Andy!

Bed time, my eyes are bleeding.

-Jerod

I have the jdm diagrams. It uses the same pin for the cel as usdm.

Cool, any chance of getting pdf copies of those? Looks all through the net to no avail. Thanks.

You can find RHD 2004 wiring diagrams here: http://mustakaapu.kyla.fi/~beavis/RHD_2004_subaru_DOCH_Turbo_wiring_diagram.pdf

Can't confirm for sure that they match JDM version 100% but those were ones I used to track differences between JDM vs EDM and so far each pin in RHD 2004 diagram has matched my JDM v7 ecu. Would it be possible that AUDM, UKDM and JDM use same ecu pin outs?

EDM 2005 wiring diagram for reference:
http://mustakaapu.kyla.fi/~beavis/eudm05%20wiring%20diagram.PDF

And differences between JDM and USD ecu pins:
http://mustakaapu.kyla.fi/~beavis/Subaru_02-05_JDM-USDM_WRX_Pinouts.pdf

Seems to be using same pin for CEL in all ecus.

I am certainly no expert with wire diagrams, but from the JDM one provided here and the USDM one http://www.northursalia.com/modificatio ... rxpin.html there doesn't it look like the test mode connector is a different pin on the JDM ecu than it is on the USDM one?

I am trying to figure out what is causing this "ghost" CEL and it appears that the light is OFF when the test mode connectors are connected, which is why I ask. This is assuming USDM ecu with the Group-N ROM. I haven't looked into the JDM ecu with Group-N ROM strange CEL behavior.

There is a fix for all of the CELs which I will release very soon, I'm just trying to work out the "ghost" CEL to include a fix for that as well.

Andy

here are some "test mode connector" pin-outs...

Year/model ** Connector **Pin
01 STi JDM ** B134 ** 5
02/03 WRX usdm ** B134 ** 14
01/02 – STi 43R ** B134 ** 5
02/03 – STi 44S ** B134 ** 14
04 STi (usdm) ** B137 ** 14
04 WRX JDM ** B134 ** 5
05 WRX ** B134 ** 14
05 WRX uedm LHD ** B134 ** 5

i can't guarantee that it is correct, but this is from my Manuals

Edit: Dweeb confirms that there are pin differences. I didn't remember changing mine.

For the CEL, I run my JDM V9 with an 04 WRX harness, and the check connector (4 pin jumped plug) are always connected. I haven't tried unjumping it with the GrN rom. Maybe thats why I only get the CEL when AVCS is initializing..

there is a difference in pin location between V7 and V8 and above. I have both versions in different cars, plus on my bench tester/flasher (see pict), i have a switch that allows me to switch between the 2 pins :D

Thats pretty cool. I never remember changing the pins, even on my V9 spec-c ECU. But I must have!

If you are running USDM WRX harness, and V8 or above JDM ECU, you don’t need to re-pin, as they both use pin-14. It is only V7 STi / WRX if I am not mistaken that you need to mod.
but if you put in 01+ JDM engine or AVCS heads, then you need to run extra wires also, but that is another thing...
