Does anyone know of any documentation, possibly from FHI (or SOA i guess) about the components of the recent and current EFI system but with more description than the removal and installation instructions. For example, im interested in a document that would show flow rates of injectors with test data like the turbos do with efficiency envelope charts and such. I thought of this when wondering the knock sensor frequency range or ranges for noise its listening for and thought it could apply to just about the entire EFI system.

without a mole at FHI you're never going to get a hold of this kind of stuff.

I was in the Subaru HQ lobby in Japan a couple years ago! I would have picked one up for you had I known you wanted one today.

Some Automotive Control Systems books talk of the precise mechanical tuning of the knock, specifically the precise dimensions of it's steel washer which makes the seismic mass and the accurate torquing of it's center bolt.

Thanks ckibue... I appreciate your time!

after looking at that doc it looks like that specific sensor is sensitive to much higher freq. than i would have guessed which makes me wonder if the ECU is able to filter specific ranges.

And it also looks like the piezoceramic unit is actually preloaded by the bolt that holds the sensor onto the block. so i could imagine how important exact torquing is, which brings up another question... why do they specifiy a tq in the FSM and then specify an angle for the wire harness to be at? I doubt that both will be achieved 99% of the time.

I think my query is not so much ECU analysis anymore. :(

There is a mechanism and function section in the factory service manuals, both Impreza and LGT. It's intended for techs so it's not going to have all that really hardcore manufacturer technical data that you are looking for.
