From the bit I can glean from the log. I looks like you were in Dyno mode and still moving then switched to ET mode (still moving) and it never had a chance to reset the internal counters.

Can you enable the selected car to be saved as part of the profile? Currently you have to choose it every time its launched.

In order for DYNO to work accurately, it should be in a flat road without elevation or dips right? What's a good rpm range for 2nd gear on an automatic? Mine's a forester XT 09 EDM Do I use limited or standard? We only have one version. For imperial, just my weight and whats on the car right?

I only selected my vehicle once, and from that point it has always been listed?

Anyhoo, I think you can move your vehicles info to the top of the list in the dyno defs file and it will be the default vehicle when first opened.

I haven't got to the point where all the parameters selected are saved in a profile. By the looks of it, it may take a lot of modifying of the profile save and load code to make it happen (as well as saving other parameters like on the MAF and injector tab too).

As Leslie mentioned, just edit the car_def.xml file in Notepad and move your car data to the top of the list, including the <car> and </car> tags.

I'm not sure of the impact a run up or down a hill would have on the results. Up means you can take longer to get to the target RPM. And time is used in the calculations but it may all be relative. If you try it let us know.

On some models there is a base model and a Limited model with more options hence more weight. If you have leather seats and moon roof etc. choose the Limited setting.
The weight in the definitions is the OEM listed curb weight, so if you've added/removed kit to/from your car then you may need to adjust for it, along with you and your passengers...the one operating the Dyno computer ;-)
Weight has the most bearing on the results so it best to get it accurate. Total weight is the sum of the vehicle and delta fields.

Thanks on the tips! Ok will just edit mine and will use the limited version.
So Im 187 lbs plus my sub woofer and other car stuff... Should be around 290 to 300 lbs. So more weight on the same power on the RR dyno will give lower or higher result?

From what I see, the whp captured on mine is from a gear shift to third already so graph shows a peak then a dip then a peak again. The 2nd peak is where the rr dyno got my max whp. For torque, I know my max is at 3900 to 4000 for a vf52. The rr dyno gets it at 2900 rpm which i think is too early.

When doing a dyno run, start driving slowly under 2000rpm in 3rd (5spd) or 4th (6spd) and when you are ready, go WOT until redline. It should be a single gear pull from around 2000rpm to redline for best/cleanest results.

For an auto trans I think 2nd gear should be used, yours changed up during the pull? If it did I'm not sure how to account for that as the calculation is made for only one gear ratio throughout the pull.

Our 4eat holds second then when it reaches threshold (around 6200 rpm) auto shifts. When it goes to 3rd, sometimes rpm is still high and I think that is what's recorded sometimes. If I set the rpm range, will that be followed regardless where my 4eat shifts?

Then just do your logging from 2000rpm to 6200rpm (ie. right to the moment before it switches gear).

The RPM range fields are for post run recalculations. The recorded data only applies to WOT so as soon as you let off the throttle the Dyno will stop recording. I suggest you let up as soon as it's about to shift. If you catch a bit of 3rd gear you can just lower the RPM max field and recalculate to exclude the data above the shift.

Thanks for your hard work guys.
I just tried to make a couple of WOT pulls, and here's what I got:
The HP and torq curves are almost identical, I guess that is not supposed to be?

Am I doing something wrong?
Thanks,
Anton

I think if you started at a low RPM, under 2000 and went WOT to redline you would see a different curve. Your TQ most often peaks under 4000. I think you just have too short a run here and the variation is exaggerated by the scaling.

BTW: if you Right click on the graph you can save it without having to do a whole screen capture.

I also appear to be getting some interesting shapes at the right hand side of the graph but was pulling from 2000rpm in 3rd. Any ideas? Thanks.

Can you send me your 'romraider.log' (or maybe the romraider.log.1 or .2) file? It should have some DYNO entries in it and I'll take a look.
Is this after multiple pulls or just one?
Dale
