I assume you're talking about the smoothing button?

Thing is, I'd really like to make the smoothing button work on more than just one row or column at a time, and I'm not sure how to scale up the polynomial idea to work that way.

Afterplaying on it some more
Maybe the polynomial function is not really what i thought i want but the ability to select cells (per row on smoothing function) to be fixed and not get smoothed and use the polynomial function to curve fit.

Maybe apply to fuel map as well

Just a suggestion and i want to thank you for adding more fun and function to this

I'm not familiar with the 09 timing, but my guess is that you'd want to mostly focus on the 'non cruise' base timing and advance timing tables.

I've got the same queries with the 08 timing! i have the following tables:

Base Timing Primary Cruise
Base Timing Reference Cruise (AVCS related)
Base Timing Primary Non-Cruise
Base Timing Reference Non-Cruise (AVCS related)
Knock Correction Advance Max Cruise
Knock Correction Advance Max Non-Cruise

Then i have variable valve timing maps:
Intake Cam Advance Angle Cruise (AVCS)
Intake Cam Advance Angle Non-Cruise (AVCS)

I think it depends on the ROM, but you should have a Base timing table and an Advance timing table. They are in the same map group.

Maybe "ignition" rather than "initial?"

If I made a typo somewhere, please point me to it so I can fix it.

The first four tables are base timing, the next two are advance timing.

I'm not clear on what 'cruise' and 'non-cruise' are all about, my car doesn't have those. In RomRaider or EcuFlash, look at the help text for each table, that may shed some light on what they're for. If I remember right, the ECU shifts gradually between the 'cruise' and 'non-cruise' tables depending on your driving style, and there's a parameter you can log that will show how much weight the ECU is giving to each set of tables.

The 'avcs related' tables may only be used after cold starts or something like that... again, check the help text for each table.

In my ROM ('05 OBXT):
Ignition Timing - Advance
> Knock Correction Advance Max

How to use:

* Select "initial base timing"
* Paste your base timing table from RomRaider
* Select "initial advance timing"
* Paste your timing advance table from RomRaider
* Select "initial total timing"
* Move the mouse over the cells in the table, and watch.
* Select the "Modified Xxxx" stuff, and notice the help text at the bottom of the window.
* Make changes. Note that the "total timing" views can be inaccurate if your base and advance tables have different row and column headers.
* Copy the modified base/advance tables and paste them into RomRaider.
* Double-check everything in RomRaider.
* Flash, log, repeat.

FOr INitial Base TIming, I got my base timing table.
For Initial Advance timing, i got the Knock Correction Advance Max

What am I watching for and when do i use the smoothing tool (if needed).

My tables are sized differently, so what has to be done?

That's "Initial" as in initial-vs-modified. Maybe I should call it before and after?

You copy the base timing and advance timing tables from RomRaider and paste them into the initial base and initial advance tables in the editor. Then you party on the modified base and modified advance tables in the editor.

You can toggle between the initial and modified tables to see how your changes compare to what you started with. When you're satisifed, paste the modified tables into RomRaider.

Thanks again for making this tool. I use it all the time. I dunno if you want to continue developing it, but whenever I use it, I always think that it would be a nifty feature if it could automatically rescale different loads. I like to compare timing maps sometimes and it can be a hassle to use the Airboy rescaler in order to quickly take a look at different timing maps. Perhaps try incorporating a load rescaler in this tool?

Can you make this compatible with other non timing tables?

Rescaling is something I'd like too, but it's not a high priority for me so it will probably be a while.

MFB, I use this for fuel tables sometimes - what exactly are you trying to do, and what goes wrong?
