Subject: SH Boot mode questionsYour file opened sucessfully but bricked your ecu since it was an incomplete image or corrupted? There should be an integrity check for the .hex or bin in Ecuflash and romraider to prevent this. I too recovered my hard drive recently using low level recovery method. I got all of my .hex files. Is there a way to check if these files are still safe to use? I opened them in ecuflash with no problem. However basing it on your experience, ecuflash does not check integrity of the image file
I guess I'm not really 100% sure what happened. My laptop had an accident and I dragged the desktop out to the garage to flash, with all the confusion, I think I may have forgotten to put the .hex at the end of the file name when using the "Save As" in RomRaider, however EcuFlash still opened it like a normal .hex file. Luckily, I had a recent revision in my PM Sent folder on here that I was able to work with.
SH Boot Mode is as easy as Colby makes it out to be, I just didn't have enough common sense at first. Luckily for me, there's this great forum with great people willing to help. If I can figure it out, anyone can.
I wonder if a SHBoot mode How-to thread would be a good idea?

In a stock ROM there is a checksum, it's the CVN if I'm not mistaken. I don't think RR Editor uses this value and I know when you write a modified ROM it sets it to zero's. Now I see in the most recent EcuFlash it remarks about 'all checksum features turn off'.
I was wondering about that message, it did look new/different, it even names RR with some question marks.
