So to save time I just bought the cable from PLX hoping everything would work just fine. Plug it into the USB on the computer and it installs the driver no problem. Next I go into RR logger and connect first to the OBDII via com 3 on my computer then go to plug ins and select the SM AFR and it asks me to use com 4 and click ok. Go to the external sensors tab and select the box for plx wideband and up pops the parameter in the logger....

However my problem is that it just takes an immediate reading (ie 14.7) and then will not change as the AFRs change. You can go back to the external sensors tab and uncheck the plx wideband box and recheck it and it will do the same where it pops back up and displays whatever the AFR was at the very moment you clicked it and stay there.

How can I have it log live like all the other parameters? Any ideas?!?!

I need to get this working, just put together a GT3582 STi and want to tune WOT as soon as possible :)

Did you have a successful ECU connection? You need to select at least one ECU parameter or the External item will never update.

Yeah I am reading data on the normal parameters tab, but no luck with the external sensor. Any ideas? I made sure I had the most up to date drivers for the PLX cable. Using windows 7.

Can you supply the rr_system.log ?
You can find in Help > Debugging > Debug Log location.

This is what I see:
Quote:
23536 INFO [Thread-1392] - PLX SM-AFR: connecting...
23678 INFO [Thread-1392] - Connected to: COM4
23678 INFO [Thread-1392] - PLX SM-AFR: connected.
23717 ERROR [Thread-1411] - Error occurred
java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Unknown PLX Sensor Type: 4032

That Type value does not match up with any known PLX sensor type. What model do you have exactly?

Have you tried different logging software to see if there is a similar issue with reading data? (http://www.plxdevices.com/support/softw ... erV3.1.exe)

If not I can write some more debugging code into the PLX plug-in to dump the raw data stream cuz right now it looks like it's not what we expect. The RR Logger does support iMFD so it should just work.

I presume you have a gauge that reads correctly, yes?

OK. We can try this to get me some data.

You need a terminal program to access the COM port. Since Win7 doesn't have HyperTerminal you can use PuTTY. Get it here and save it.

Open PuTTY from wherever you saved it and select the Serial button. In the tree list on the left at the very bottom is Serial, click it.
Now set the COM port setting there.
  • Serial Line to connect to: COM4 (I think that's what you are using...?)
  • Speed: 19200
  • Data bites: 8
  • Stop bits: 1
  • Parity: None
  • Flow Control: None

Again in the left menu tree click Logging under the Session item. For logging pick 'All session output' and Browse to a location to save the log file. Give it an appropriate name. Save.

In the left menu go to Session (at the top). Give this connection profile a name in the 'Saved Sessions' field and then click Save. Now we are ready...

Connect up the PLX to the computer and with the car running, click Open. A black terminal window should open and if there is data, gibberish should appear in it. Let it run for a minute or so (do a couple of throttle stabs) and then Close the window. Zip up the log file that you made and post it.

Hopefully I can get an idea of what's going on from the data stream from the PLX.

Having the same issue with my cable. Depending on the Com port that's selected the value will either be a static '10' or '14.6/7/2' etc. Also the Com port that's selected for the PLX Cable (Com4) Shows up as the selected Com port in the logger. I currently have the PLX cable plugged into the female connector on my DM-5 Gauge since I can't get a display on the DM-5 gauge if I plug it into the TX serial port and plug the gauge into the RX serial port. Is the cable Com port specific? I asked NSFW for assistance, but i'm sure he's busy doing definitions. I have current build: RomRaider 0.5.4 Beta RC1 Build: 370 running in windows 7.

Are you able to get me some more data as I suggest in this post?
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8333&start=12

I see the same error: Unknown PLX Sensor Type: 4032
