Hi all,

I'm new to the forums, so please excuse me if this topic has been covered, but I could not find a complete answer in my searches.

I have an 05 ADM Legacy GT 5MT, as sold in South Africa in 2006 (Liberty in Australia). The stock rom identifier appears to be a A2WD012T, although it was initially sold to me modified by Subaru South Africa as a "Prodrive"? map. I subsequently did a full decat and new exhaust and needed a new tune. I have been to one of the local tuners recently, but we had trouble achieving a decent and stable tune. The tuner made the comment that something appears to be holding the tune/power back and he could not achieve consistent results. Torque mid range went up a lot but not high end power.

I've subsequently started looking into the tables myself to try to understand what is happening, and have found a few odd things that result in some questions. I've looked at my "original" Prodrive tune, as well as a stock A2WD012T ROM from this forum.

Merchgod did an analysis of the 07 STI ROM in which he mentioned the 05 LGT ROM briefly:

viewtopic.php?f=25&t=1568

1. Is the 05 LGT ROM working on the same basis as the 07 STI, where the A and B ROM's are both used to determine targets? OR does it use the "C" tables he mentions? In that discussion Merchgod refers to the factory ability to disable the A/B tables and use a single C table, which is not currently in the definitions. It does seem it uses the A and B tables, as those have been edited my tuner and the boost did go up on my in car gauge.

2. Merchgod also mentions some odd WGD behaviour. I've noticed the stock "Initial WGD A" table has zero (0) values in all the cells. The "Max WGD" table sometimes has a lower value than the "Initial WGD B table". The B table also has a dip in the initial values in some columns at about 2800 on the stock factory tune. Is this normal?

3. My tuner adjusted the Target Boost A and B tables upwards and also completely adjusted the Initial WGD tables A and B, but did not adjust the Max WGD table. Surely this would limit the WGD if the MAX WGD is lower than the initial?

4. Has anyone got good experience tuning this ROM?

Regards,
Pythos

Hi Pythos - who did the tuning locally for you - Marco? Would be easier to chat and get a better idea exactly from them what the tuner felt was holding the power back. Out of town for two days, maybe we can chat on Friday. Are you Joburg based?

It was Hylton who was doing the tune. We ran out of time that day, but he suspected the O2 sensor could be a bit off. I have been trying to order a wideband do some some comparisons, but so far 3 different suppliers in SA have not replied to my email requests to buy one...

I do intend to take the car back to Hylton some time (no complaints on his service), but due to work and time constraints I'm also trying to learn for myself for future projects. I'm based in Vanderbijlpark, so not always so convenient to go to JHB in the week.

Since the tune, I've noticed I get variable boost over the course of a drive, and so started looking into how the boost and WGD tables work. I've been logging the obvoius things like IAM and can't find anything particularly odd.

I'd like to understand how the ROM on my car works, hence the questions.

Hi all,

After getting bogged down with some (paid) work, I'm back with some more questions on the Legacy ROM.

I'm still trying to figure out how a few tables work and are put together.

On both the stock and my current ROM I've noticed some odd things on the WGD tables:

1. The initial WGD duty table is 8x12, but the max duty table is 8x8. Is this correct and normal? The "32bitbase" that this rom is inherited from is the same.
2. In some cases the max duty numbers are equal to or lower than the initial? Why is this? What effect does this have?

Stock rom is the A2WD012T found on this forum, as mentioned earlier in the thread.

Regards,
Pythos

Keep in mind the USA did not get the EJ20Y engine so the 05 LGT is not the same car/engine/tune ;)

It will be the stock turbo not flowing AND you need to have a solid WGDC table sorted to get smooth boost curves
