To work with the latest logger.xml this version of XmlToIdc is best.

How? Same error for me

This is answered above - go to those locations and undefine them.

My fault for the confusion; but I meant the sytax error he was getting in his previous post -

when I try and execute it says I've got a syntax error near static?

I'm not seeing any error, but then I'm using the version of the XmlToIdc app I posted above.

I've updated the first post with a link to DSchultz's GitHub.
Thanks for the improvements!

Got it now. I was trying to copy and paste the code as an IDC command instead of opening it as a script file

If you have an EcuFlash-compatible definition, then half of it could be made to work. I suspect it would need some small changes, since table headers are probably not in the same format. You'd also need a logger definition, in RomRaider's format, for the other half. But that might not work, unless those ECUs also support logging based on RAM addresses like Subaru's ECUs.

The utility requires definitions, though. It doesn't actually do any reverse-engineering, it just converts the definitions from XML format to IDC format.

Well I'm good at reading :)
I've read that thread a few times over already, and figured out SSM is Subaru Select Monitor
Most of my experience is with more basic microcontrollers, so the Motorola processor and opcodes are definitely a big step up for me, my interest in the 16bit stuff is ultimately the Group-N SD ROM

any other big threads that are good for reading? I'm trying to learn as much as possible
is there a similar tool like HEW for the Renesas processors? or is everything written in assembly through IDA?

Hopefully you're not trying to reinvent the wheel.
viewforum.php?f=36

HEW is for Renesas processors

I just want to edit the wheel, that ROM is the one I'd be editing
I know that Jason has been playing with auto-throttle kick, and I want to make it happen

I'm aware that HEW is for Renesas, I meant is there a program similar to it for the Motorola processors? I haven't seen anyone mention such a program, so I'm assuming everything is just written in assembly through IDA

The application and source has been updated in the first post again.

  • It now handles 16 bit ECUs better. Note: not all table axis are marked as some data series have no axis info in the ROM.
  • SSM Switches are all correctly defined and duplicates removed.
  • There's a makeall option which will create all three tables, stdparams & extparams with only one invocation of XmlToIdc.
  • It can now read the Base ROM info to create tables from the inherited ROM

Updated to enhance the 16bit ROM stdparam marking.

I've integrated the XmlToIdc code into SharpTune (patching GUI/CLI app) with a GUI interface and added automated SSM base detection.

Nice... just test drove it, working beautifully. As much as I love command line
