Any one here looked into running RR on a Raspberry PI? Just bought myself one and wondering if its possible?

A lot of the libs are x86 specific, some are win specific, not all are happy on mac, etc. If you can get lib versions for ARM for each, you're in business, otherwise no.

Well the raspberry pi runs Linux, will the Linux version not work? The only problem I see at the moment is limited java support on the Pi but its coming along slowly. If there was full java it should work in theory?

RR uses a lot of binary extensions to Java, so no, Java is not enough. You need those binary components built for ARM.

A follow up to this... I have managed to get java working fully on the pi. Romraider & logger launch and run fine.

However I need to work out how to get it to work with my cable (tactrix 1.3) any ideas? No ports are listed in the drop down menu of the logger

You need a version of the RXTX Java library and binary for your OS. That's how RR Logger interfaces with the serial ports. Then the kernel needs to have FTDI support. And on top of all that the USB must be able to run in host mode to recognize the USB cable and load the driver.

Ah ive just been working on getting rxtx sorted before I noticed your post, fingers crossed ive just sorted that.
Seems I have FTDT support and the cable is listed in lsusb... host mode hmmmm I will look into it.

I think I have a problem with my rxtx as no matter what I do I cannot get it to see the port in RR logger... is there a way to test that rxtx is correctly working?

There's two parts to RXTX. The Java library and the binary driver, which is OS dependent.
You probably need to build one for your OS from source. http://rxtx.qbang.org/

Fixed - the file was in the wrong place... followed by not an ARM version... logger now shows /dev/ttyUSB0 - Fingers crossed this is the correct USB port as its a little dark outside now to go playing (00:18)

Most of this still stands apart from an update Java version.

Launcing from the "start menu" shortcut has a problem accessing the def files, say they do not exist even tho you just selected them - Work around for this is to launch from terminal " java -jar RomRaider.jar -logger "

I love being wrong like this! :-)

Still: 3D view, will likely crash? And various other cross libs that have binary parts other than dirty old RXTX. I guess most don't matter much/at all. I managed to run RR without them all using Maven too. Expect some stuff to not work, though :-)

Well ive not tried loading a rom yet... however ive just managed to brake xterm and cant log in atm GREAT! I when I get access again I will do some testing and report back, followed by a better review.

I think the bigger problem is going to be the lack of RAM and processing power. Its quite laggy while loading, and im not sure how well it will log, might have to turn fast polling off?

3D view button does nothing

You shouldn't have to pollute the Java installation with the binary. RomRaider is setup to look in RomRaider/lib/linux/ for supporting libraries and their dependent binaries.
Great find! I've got an ARM5 and ARM6 device, I'll try these out.

I suspect you will find that you can't open a ROM with a full set of tables. Probably not enough memory for Java. If you can read data from the ECU with the Logger then I don't expect you'll have any other problems. Fast poll does use quite a bit of CPU though due to the high call rate to read bytes from the serial port. J2534 would be more efficient if there was a driver for a compatible device. I think Drew Tech has one for the CarDaq that work with the Mongoose, but I haven't tried it yet.
