Thanks for the input guys, but I am set on keeping this closed source for now. It will always be free, though.

I like this as well, having control of a project and allowing the self implementation of additional ROM's is great.

Will we be able to see existing defined LV definitions to assist with new ROM's? For example, A2WC420H is publicly undefined ROM with no LV support yet inherits most tables from A2WC420M so knowing the existing address would help with unknown ROM. I also find say common ECU ID's have similar addresses so is it possible to inherit? Say AZ1G900O inheriting from AZ1G900P?

My plan is to allow you to inherit from existing LV definitions, but those internal definitions (i.e. offsets) will not be exposed. The user-defined xml will therefore be optional (i.e. LV will run without it based on the internal definitions). Finding the offsets and other data needed for LV will be very easy for someone who is familiar with reversing Subaru ECUs. A motivated beginner to reversing could also probably figure it out fairly easily (almost all the defined items needed for LV are defined in some way in RomRaider's ECU or logger defs). For the necessary value to the DTC reader, which may not be widely known, I will explain how to find and define it.

Update suggestions...
  • be J2534 compliant and use any driver loaded on the user's system as defined in the Registry, not just OP2 (Tactrix, DrewTech, Intrepid CS, etc)
  • Develop against Mono so non-Windows platforms can take advantage of LV

Hi, first I would like to say that I LOVE Learning View. It has helped me fine tune my maps for years to keep knock low. I am currently having an issue however and I was wondering if anyone could help out. It seems that the top set of values is blacked out for me. The biggest problem with this is that I can no longer read the IAM using LV. I have attached a screenshot of the problem. I have tried to re-download LV and the issue persists. FYI I am running a Gateway netbook on XP. I wasnt having this issue on my win7 laptop, but I like to keep the netbook in the car and this issue is keeping me from using LV to its potential.

Has anyone run across this?

Thanks!

Mainly just here to say thanks! I've had a tactrix cable since Jan of 2007 but forgot about it and had other cars than my 2006 WRX to play with. Now, after 170,000 miles I'm getting a cel so I dug out the cable and found Learning View.

Sorry to be getting people excited with activity.

I have an '09 ADM Liberty 2.5i 5MT
Should this ECU be supported by current LV and if not, how can I read the DTCs ?
It is throwing a CEL and LV is giving me no info at all.

LV 1.0RC3 says it can't read the ROM.

ECU ID shows as 62521A4007, no CAL ID shown.

And yes I have experience using LV, it works perfectly well on my 06 ADM WRX

Thanks
Brett

Try change the Netbook Windows XP theme, I have noticed some Windows themes blacken out the top values to the point of being unreadable.

E2SB002M ;) Shoot me a PM, I have a definition for the CEL's so you can turn off the air pump :) I know exactly what it is, hence why I have the DTC's defined

I'm getting a message saying my ECU isn't supported.

Cal ID: AE5K500L
ECU ID: 8112585007

It's a 2012 WRX, is there still no support for it in LearningView?
