I have used quite afew engine managements, and all of them have a way to interpolate scattered values. The stock timing maps could use this feature. It would just require you to highlight what you want to 'averaged', and hit the 'interpolate' button. Which would take the lowest to highest value, average it out between the number of cells between. Is this possible?

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

The problem with the timing editor 'smooth' button is that it only works on stripes of cells - a section of one row or one column. At some point I want to be able to select a rectangle of cells (3 wide by 5 high, for example) and have the button do something intelligent with them. I just not sure exactly what.

Do you mean a function similar to the EcuFlash Interpolate 2D function?

It would still be nice to have it in RomRaider tool bar or in the Edit column. I have been using it in Ecuflash, but it's a PITA. I save the current rom in RR, open it up in Ecuflash, 2D interpolate areas of the map, save file, reopen the saved file in RR, clean-rinse-repeat.
I just prefer to modify Subaru maps in RR, so much easier than Ecuflash.

Yes I would like this in romraider as well for 2d and 3d tables.

I'll see what I can do for the next release. No ETA yet though.

I see a small issue here. there should be great care in using interpolate here. It is very heavily influenced by load. I know in my rom i made quite large jumps between no boost and boost. Like 1.4 jumping to 2.0 Big reason for this is that i need the resolution for part throttle driving under 1.4. While under boost i need to lower the timing pretty heavily. So i would drop from 24 adv to 13. Now if you have say 45* in low load and 14* in high load and only 10 cells or whatever it is horizontally. 20* advance in cell 8 maybe way too much running 17 psi on a 3076r at whatever the 4000 rpm.
I hope this makes sense.

it does make sense. surely though, nobody plans on interpolating across the ENTIRE map, right? and if they do, they'll soon learn the folly... i want to use it as i used it in the old UTEC Control Center (remember that?): quickly smooth sections of the map in a small region. ie, you just got some knock in one particular cell, now you need to reduce timing there, and blend it back into the rest of the map. btw, are there keyboard shortcuts for navigating cells in RR maps? up down left right?

JMlegacy wrote: Bump! Still waiting on this Agreed. I often have to do the same thing as the op, and copy and paste tables back and forth from room to ecu flash to use the interpolate features.
