 Post subject: SRI maf scale. Need advice

I have mishimoto performance intake with oiled air filter and mishimoto turbo inlet, maf housing is 2.75 inch with welded mesh. After maf rescale, all maf open loop area numbers are about 14% less than stock, so at 4.69v I hit about 256 g/s. How is it possible? Is it because of the short ram intake I pressure tested all post turbo intake up to 1.2 bar, everything seemed normal, only hear a little sound inside intake manifold

Usually using maf scale software. But I couldn't hit my target afr, so I decided to do it otherwise. During wot I was running about 9.3, my target 10.8, I calculated percentage and lowered scale by this % and started to hit my targets. I'm using wideband to monitor afrs. Injectors are stock, so I didn't rescaled them

what is the internal diameter of the area that the MAF sensor is in? do you have pics of where and what the size of the air straightener is?

it's possible that is how your MAF setup wants to work, if you're using a screen mesh similar to window screen you're cutting down on the potential flow overall, as that sort of mesh is restrictive.

that design looks like it would scale weird and probably have AFR drift with IAT swings

I'd vote stock intake over that intake.

It's really weird, all maf scale in closed loop is a bit higher than stock, but open loop area is a lot smaller. I plan to switch to SD in the summer

if you look at the cross section of the diverter / straightener area, at low flow it should have more air over the sensor

and at higher flow it looks to be restrictive

thus, higher g/s at low voltage and lower g/s at high voltage

if your software is scaling the sensor and your fueling error is getting within 1% everywhere, then you're for sure doing it right - just that this intake isn't going to work for anything more than a TD04 with it's stock voltage axis.

Send me a PM with your current MAF scale, or post it here, and I can set you up with a polynomial derived starting point for a MAF scaling with a shifted voltage axis to reach higher in the MAF scale.

you probably have a leak ...

I pressure tested all post turbo pipes. As I wrote in the 1st post. Post maf leak, it would have been lean during wot, but I was really rich, target afr 10.8, during wot afr was 9.3

My boost is 1.5 bar. Fuel trims +-2% at idle area, after that it stays 0%. Might be dirty maf sensor? Thought about it only now

leak after throttle plate, sucking air during vacuum hence the need for higher maf scale and losing air during boost hence the need for lower maf scale ...
if you do maf scaling with a leak the fuel trims are irrelevant -> you are covering the leaks by scaling ...
